By: almotamar.net - SANA'A- Head of Europe and Middle East and America Department at the British Foreign Office Martin Denham said his government has decided to increase subsides to Yemen from ₤ 13 million to ₤ 40 million annually during the coming four years.
In a press conference held at the British Embassy in Beirut, the British official stated Yemen's subsidies file is included in the list to be discussed by Britain and Arabic Fund. "We have agreed that Yemen is a very poor country and penetrable, and so the London Donors' Conference would include Gulf Countries ministers and officials from Arabic Funds, in addition to other groups of donor countries. It is a chance for Yemen to define its development ideas," he added.
In reply to the question of the Kuwait al-Watan newspaper regarding the size of subsidies to Yemen, Denham said ,"We haven't talked about specific figures. But the joint point is to present resources and experience or work continuously. Like other Gulf countries and Britain, Kuwait has a priority in supporting Yemen."
