Google ABC - The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) has reissued its warning that Australians should reconsider their need to travel to Lebanon and that there are parts of the country they should definitely avoid.
DFAT says weeks of political instability and the assassination of the Lebanese Industry Minister, Pierre Gemayel, may trigger demonstrations that have the potential to turn violent in Lebanon.
Witnesses say at least three gunmen rammed their car into Mr Gemayel's vehicle near Beirut, then leapt out and riddled it with bullets.
They say the men fired at Mr Gemayel with silencer-equipped automatic weapons at point-blank range in a Christian neighbourhood.
Australians are urged not go south of the Litani River, the Bekaa Valley and Mount Lebanon.
