Almotamar.net - SANAA-General People�s Congress (GPC)�s secretary general Abdulqader Bajammal disclosed Sunday a plot adopted by the opposition (JMP bloc) aimed at undermining the presidential elections in Yemen and to show them as if just a sham and decorative process. The prime minister pointed out that opposition parties have used a person to carry out the task on their behalf and whether that person succeeded or failed in his task they have a different thing in their minds.

Mr. Bajammal likened the dealing of the parties of the JMP with the electoral process to disguise parties people used to perform during the middle ages where they put on clothes and masks hiding their persons and reality from others, as a kind of deception.

Bajammal launched a severe attack on those parties, making it clear that their alliance was based on one question, that is the enmity against president Ali Abdullah Saleh and the GPC and more than that the entire political system. He described the policy and address of the opposition during the elections as depreciating the people, spreading lies and unrealistic sayings.
He cited a stance by the opposition with regard to the question of school students uniform, saying they took four months arguing and taking stances of utter silliness and ignorance just to instigate people to reject it. He said nonetheless the school uniform was easily accepted by the people and no refusal of it had happened.

The GPC secretary general said elements of JMP alliance are not strong, i.e. they are allied around hostility against the president Ali Abdullah Saleh and the GPC and the political system as a whole. Their language is a mutinous one. As for running the political and economic life it is another question and they will fight each other for it and would revolt on their very mutiny.
Regarding aspects of difference between the program of the GPC and that of the JMP Bajammal clarified in an interview to Al-Jumhuriyah newspaper yesterday that there is a progress in the social, civil and realistic orientation by the GPC and that was why its election platform came as ambitious, unlike the JMP that drew up a platform offering nothing deserving to ponder and appeared as an unbalanced mosaic mixture that is inconsistent in the attempt to satisfy the parties in the JMP and creating a certain balance for the contradictions among the bloc which is composed of different contradicting orientations and ideologies. He said the JMP is unable to run the affairs of the state and that the state that has the same slogans did not succeed and the example present in the mind is still an inapplicable one at all events.
The prime minister said the economic policies the government has been implementing in the past years have fruited positive results with regard to tackling the problem of unemployment.
He said unemployment has been reduced from 33% to 14%, meaning there is a development going on in the society and income rates are presently higher than they were six or five years before
