Google Alert KUNA - RIYADH, Dec 3 (KUNA) -- Saudi Arabia and the Republic of Yemen on Sunday signed an agreement on customs cooperation in a bid to facilitate trade and economic exchange.
Saudi Customs Department Director General Salih al-Barrak and his Yemeni counterpart Dr. Ali Zubaidi represented the two countries in the signing ceremony during which a number of officials and ambassadors of both countries were present.
In a press statement following the event, Barrak said the agreement was in implementation of recommendations adopted during the 17th session of the Saudi-Yemeni coordination council and the economic, trade, investment and technical cooperation pact concluded by the two countries.
The agreement is a step forward in the completion of effort of the existing customs cooperation that is aimed at increasing easy movement of goods, Barrak went on, underlining the solid Saudi-Yemeni ties and the leaderships' keenness on its promotion.
He said projects of great and direct effect were currently under review.
Saudi-Yemeni relations observed remarkable development since June 2000, when the two countries reached an agreement regarding their international borders.
