Almotamar.net - SANA'A- The European Commission, the executive body of the European Union, launched Monday a new scholarships scheme that includes 110 scholarships for students and teachers from Iran, Iraq and Yemen. .
The 110 scholarships will be divided between Iran, Iraq and Yemen.
Starting in the academic year 2007-'08, the duration of these scholarships may vary from three months to three years.
The scholarships are targeted at undergraduate, masters, doctorate and post-doctoral students between these countries and the EU, as well as exchanges of academic staff for the purpose of teaching, training and research.
The Erasmus Mundus is the European Union's flagship scholarship program. It provides opportunities for students and academics and for third country students and scholars to study in EU universities.
It also supports cooperation between European and non-European universities.
Since 2004, under the Erasmus Mundus program, 26 citizens from Iran and Yemen have already received grants.
