Almotamar Net - Aden, Yemen- President Ali Abdullah Saleh received Sunday evening in Aden the secretary-general of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Abdulrahman Bin Hamad al-Attiyah. The meeting discussed relations of cooperation between Yemen and the GCC States and means of developing and expanding them in different areas.

Almotamar.net - Aden, Yemen- President Ali Abdullah Saleh received Sunday evening in Aden the secretary-general of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Abdulrahman Bin Hamad al-Attiyah. The meeting discussed relations of cooperation between Yemen and the GCC States and means of developing and expanding them in different areas.

Mr. Attiyagh informed the president on results and decisions of the Gulf 27th summit held in the Saudi capital Riyadh recently under chairmanship of King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz of Saudi Arabia. He pointed out that the GCC highly evaluated results and decisions of the donor conference held in London and affirmed their interest and keenness on supporting development in Yemen and speeding up the outcomes of the donor conference.

President Saleh expressed his gratitude and appreciation of the good feelings and brotherly spirit expressed by leaders of the GCC States in their recent summit, considering that as reflecting the sincere desire by the leaders of the council regarding development and expansion of cooperation with Yemen and qualification of its economy to join the Gulf economies in the way realizing goals of partnership between Yemen and the GCC states. He considered that as achieving the common interests of the countries and peoples of the peninsula and the Gulf and serving security and stability in the region.
The president stressed the importance of setting a suitable and quick mechanism guaranteeing the use of resources speedily and in a qualified manner and implementation of the strategic projects to be funded by donor countries during the upcoming four years as part of the third 5-year plan for economic and social development aimed at enhancing the process of comprehensive development, alleviation of poverty and absorption of unemployment by providing job opportunities for the largest segment of the workforce as well as translation of the goals of qualifying the Yemeni economy to incorporate with the Gulf economies.
President Saleh also renewed his welcome to Gulf investments in Yemen especially in the free zone in Aden and the industrial areas in the governorates. He affirmed that the investments will receive support and care from him personally in addition to guarantees and facilities.
The meeting was attended by the political advisor to the president Abdulkarimn al-Eryany, the foreign minister Dr Abubakr al-Qirbi, the minister of planning and international cooperation Abdulkarim al-Arhabi and the minister of state, the secretary-general of the presidency Abdullah Hassan al-Basheeri.

Mr. Al-Attiyah had arrived in Sana'a earlier on Sunday on a several-day visit to Yemen for holding talks with a number of Yemeni officials, especially the foreign minister and the minister of planning and international cooperation focusing on mechanisms of implementing decisions of London donor conference held in the mid of last November. The visit also aims at evaluating progress of preparations for holding the conference on exploring investment opportunities in Yemen to be held on 6-8 February 2007 and inauguration of the promotional campaign for the conference.
