This has been announced by Robert Wasel in charge of implementation of the WB works pertaining to the good governance and administration in the Middle East and North Africa, the chairman of the team of experts charged with modernization of the civil service system in Yemen. He mentioned that in a special seminar the WB organized in Sana'a on Sunday about components of the world new strategy of the WB related to fighting corruption and aspects of good governance. Mr. Robert praised the accomplishments made by Yemen at the level of combating corruption and enhancements of constituents of good government that enabled it to capture the first place on the list of the Arab countries in this regard. He has clarified that the bank's new world strategy focuses on three components. The first focuses on the country's level, the second is concerned with guarantee of implementing the projects funded by the WB with high degree of transparency and decency and the third focuses on opening connections between the bank and donor countries and establishments to participate in publishing issues connected to the good governance and fighting corruption. Mr. Robert indicated that the WB, as part of its efforts to complete this strategy, has been keen, through organizing the present seminar, to hold consultation with 50 states around the world, including Yemen, on their components. He pointed out that evaluation of the Yemeni government of the level of the WB performance through its various activities in the country gains a great importance by the bank officials.

On his part the minister of planning and international cooperation Abdulkarim al-Arhabi affirmed that the government national strategy aiming at implementation of decisions of the national agenda of reforms realized record progress during the past months of the year 2006. He indicated that what Yemen has achieved in this regard was received with big appreciation by donor countries and establishments, particularly the WB.
Minister al-Arhabi considered, in his opening speech of the seminar, that the WB's strategy came at a convenient time as Yemen is among the countries paying great attention to the two issues of fighting corruption and enhancing constituents of the good governance and that has been proved by the trends of the Yemeni government that are internationally recognized.
Participants in the seminar have submitted their visions related to evaluation of their establishments of the level of the WB's performance in the activities and projects pertaining to the nature and tasks of those government institutions and ministries.
