In a press release, almotamar.net received a copy of it. The YJS said it feels the extent of disappointment regarding the international silence towards non-respect of the American administration of the simplest human rights and values of democracy and freedom.

Yemeni journalists in their meeting at the YJS headquarters on Saturday considered what happened to journalist Sami al-Haj as a clear offence to all journalists in the world and it offers established evidence of the American administration endeavor for covering its savagery by detraining a witness of the fact without any charge or trial in addition to preventing him from his right to protest expression while inside the prison.
The Yemeni journalists demanded the release of al-Haj and asked the organizations interested in democracy and human rights to put their pressure with all means for the release of journalist al-Haj and his return to his family and work.

Journalist Sami al-Haj was detained in Pakistan on 13 June 2001 until 7 January 2002. His travel documents were also confiscated. On 7 January he was transferred to a detention inside the United States and then was transferred Bagram Air Force Base in Afghanistan.

During hat period Al-Haj said he was tortured severely and dogs were let loose against him and was detained in a freezing hangar of planes. And on 13 June 2002 he was transferred to Guantamo Bay where he was subjected to continued interrogation on his contacts with Islamist extremists
