A Yemeni official stressed the necessity of an international political action by the Islamic Conference Organization troika and the state of Qatar, representative of the Arab Group at the UN Security Council and Indonesia as representative of the Islamic Group at the Council in addition to chairman of Al-Quds Committee to exert pressure on Israel to stop diggings at the Maghariba Gate at the Aqsa Mosque.

The foreign undersecretary Muhiddin al-Dhabbi, head of the Yemeni delegation to ICO foreign minister emergency meeting held Thursday at the UN headquarters said the republic of Yemen called on the UN SC for the necessity of taking measures to stop those diggings at Al-Maghariba Gate.

The Yemeni official said his country has always confirmed the necessity of maintaining contacts and meetings through the UNO and other specialized organizations to give prominence to the issue of diggings carried out by Israel around the Aqsa Mosque as it is an important Islamic issue and instigates anger of Islamic peoples. He said Yemen stresses the importance that the UN, international organizations and the superpowers shouldering their responsibility for the protection of Islamic holy places in compatibility with international principles calling for preservation of peaceful coexistence among peoples and protection of heavenly religions as well as different cultures.
