ALMOTAMAR.NET - Social Affairs and Labour Undersecretary Ali Saleh Abdullah said Wednesday that the number of Yemeni children's smuggling to the kingdom of Saudi Arabia dropped in this year to 900 compared to the past years when the number amounted to 3000 children every year.

The Yemeni official attributed the decrease to the government coordination with its Saudi counterpart and said "there is coordination with the Saudi side and I visited Saudi Arabia leading a delegation of the ministry and there was coordination that each smuggled child to be sent to child care houses and the other side to be notified.

Those remarks came in an address delivered by Mr. Abdullah in the opening of a seminar on the role of the media and civil society organizations in protection of childhood organized by Human establishment FOIR Development in coordination with Arab Media Men Centre of Kuwait.

Mr. Abdullah stressed the role of the media in giving prominence to the child rights and enlightening the society on them so that the personality of the child will be formed with good conduct and cultivated behaviour.
