almotamar.net - Prime Minister Abdulqader Bajammal directed Sunday the ministry of civil service to adopt 50% of the foreign medical cadre wages for the Yemeni doctors, the percentage that was agreed on in the previous meeting. The PM's directives provided the directives should be carried out within 24 hours.

Tens of Yemeni doctors and pharmacists have on Sunday demonstrated in front of the cabinet headquarters. The demonstration was organized by the physicians, pharmacists, dentists unions as well as the unions of diagnostic medicine and laboratory and medical professions.

The demonstrators demanded the implementation of the president's election platform that urges to improve income of medical cadres in addition to demanding the government for allowance of the nature of the job approved by the law.

In a statement to almotamar.net the secretary general of physicians and pharmacists union Dr Abdulrahman al-Hamadi disclosed a program approved by the union for carrying out the strike as beginning from Monday until the 17th of this month at all hospitals and health centres of all governorates of Yemen.

On his part Dr Mohammed al-Mahyoubi, the deputy chairman of physicians and pharmacists union said the ministries of health and civil service put hindrances in the way of carrying out the cabinet decision.
