Six died while on combat operations in Salahuddin province yesterday in what was one of the deadliest attacks on US forces in months. Three others were wounded.

And three other soldiers died in a roadside bomb in Diyala province, US officials said.
More than 3,000 US personnel have been killed in Iraq since the invasion in March 2003.
Iraqi and US forces are in the third week of a security crackdown in Baghdad aimed at stemming sectarian violence.
But it is feared that insurgents could step up attacks outside Baghdad.
The names of those killed are being withheld until their families have been told of their deaths.
