almotamar.net - SANA'A, Thursday, April 13 (Bernama) -- The Yemeni government and Kuwait's Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development (AFESD) today, signed an agreement on the funding for the second phase of Sana'a International Airport's expansion, Yemen News Agency (SABA) reported.

Under the terms of the agreement, AFESD would grant Yemen $160 million for the construction of a new aviation field and other relevant terminals and service networks.

Upon completion, the Sana'a Airport would be able to cater for the expected increase in tourism in Yemen, the news agency quoted Abdul-Karim al-Arhabi Minister of Planning and International Cooperation as saying.

Al-Arhabi spoke highly of the role played by AFESD in supporting the Yemeni government's efforts to improve existing infrastructure in the service industry.

The agreement was signed here by Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Abdul-Karim al-Arhabi and AFESD Governor.
