almotamar.net - Two girls aging 12-13 have died Wednesday in a water barrier in the district of Naghrab Ans, the governorate of Thamar in central Yemen.

A local source told almotamar.net the two girls died after the fell into a water barrier just a few metres away from their houses as they were bringing water for their families.

The source added the barrier was full of water and one of the girls tumbled and fell to the bottom of the barrier and the other drowned while she was trying to rescue the first.

The source said residents tried to recover the two girls but they had already died before being rescued. It is the second incident in the area in less than a week as a girl of ten years drowned in the torrents caused by rain in the district of Amaghrab Ans the beginning of this week.
