Almotamar Net - President Ali Abdullah Saleh opened Sunday in Sanaa meetings of the Exploration of Investment Opportunities in Yemen Conference. The conference is organized by the Yemeni government in cooperation with the General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and is held under the motto of | Towards Permanent Common Interests" in the framework of steps the Yemeni economy qualification for incorporation with the Gulf economies and enhancement of cooperation between Yemen and the GCC States. The conference aims casting light on opportunities and characteristics of investment in Yemen in different sectors as well as facilities and distinguished guarantees the Yemeni law of investment offers in the way encouraging influx and attraction of Arab and foreign capital for investment in Yemen.

Taking part in the conference are businessmen and investors representing more than 650 Yemeni, Arab and foreign companies and attended by around 69 ministers, experts and officials from Arab and friendly countries.

One-hundred investment opportunities are to be presented at the conference at an estimated cost amounting to $ 8 billion. Investment opportunities include energy sectors (electricity, oil, gas and minerals), tourism (islands, mountainous and coastal areas) and investment in industrial zones (light and medium industries and the sector of basic structures (airports, seaports, roads, railroads, real estates and housing) in addition to investment in fish wealth and agricultural production.

Participants in the conference discuss over two days working papers dealing with comprehensive reforms programme in Yemen, directions of the upcoming stage, development of investment environment, tourism, real estate, oil and gas and mining sector in addition to development of infrastructures. There will be also discussion of working papers on industry in Yemen, potentials and opportunities and the opportunities and horizons of economic and investment cooperation between Yemen and the GCC states besides informing the participants on financial services in Yemen.
