almotamar.net - An agreement on security cooperation in the field of coast guard was signed in Washington on Tuesday between the Yemeni government represented by Brigadier general Ali Ahmed Rasie head of Coast Guard Authority and Captain Andy Johnson in charge of American navy affairs in the American embassy in Sana'a.
The agreement included the building of a barrier on the southern coast of Yemen to consolidate operations of the coast guard stationed in Bab el-Mandab and the Gulf of Aden at a cost of $2.8 million.
The agreement signing ceremony was attended by the Yemeni ambassador to Washington Abdulwahab Abdullah al-Hajri for the Yemeni side and for the American side by the representative of the navy, in charge of technical training in Yemen, and lieutenant general Sherman Lancy in charge of Yemen affairs in the US Coat Guard.
On his part Staff Colonel Tayseer Saleh Abdullah Saleh praised this agreement that comes as part of enhancement of the Yemeni American assistance in security area for the development of Yemeni naval cadres capabilities and protection of Yemeni regional waters against piracy and smuggling.
