almotamar.net - The Yemeni cabinet has approved the formation of a committee chaired by the deputy premier, the minister of interior and membership of ministers of industry and trade, the local administration and the justice to undertake supervision of field visit of the teams to be formed by the mayoralty and a number of governorates to follow up prices of goods and the real reasons behind their unjustifiable rise. The committee is to present a report to the cabinet on what is reached supported with necessary legal measures as soon as possible to be discussed and approved.

In its meeting on Wednesday chaired by Dr Ali Mohammed Mujawar the government decided to hold a meeting with the general federation of the chambers of commerce and industry and main importers of necessary commodities next Saturday to study the joint measures to be started with the aim of achieving price stability of those materials including preparation of periodical bulletin on prices of wholesale foodstuffs and to be published in the media instruments. There will also be a similar meeting with officials in charge of cement sector to study the current situation of this material price and the causes behind rises in its price.

The cabinet also decided establishment of an operation room at the ministry of industry and trade to receive statements from governorates on prices around the clock and to prepare a daily price list of various retail sale and wholesale commodities published in the media.

The cabinet also affirmed the role that the Yemeni economic establishment has to play for providing the necessary foodstuffs and fighting monopoly, directing of studying urgent requirements to be provided to the establishment to carry out this task. The cabinet stressed it would not hesitate in taking necessary arrangements against those manipulating with the prices.

The cabinet also approved in its Wednesday meeting the formation of a committee headed by the prime minister and membership the deputy premier for economic affairs, minister of planning and international cooperation and the ministers of oil and minerals, electricity and energy and the finance to undertake direct supervision on the situation of and approving plans and programmes as well as required mechanisms for providing electric energy meeting the population needs and for development urgently.
