Almotamar.net - The international Red Cross (UCRC) revealed Thursday that one of its humanitarian aid convoys came under attack from heavy gunfire in the area of al-Saifi, 18 km to the north of Saada city n the north of the country, injuring two Yemeni Red Crescent volunteers.
The ICRC said in a statement issued at its main headquarters in Geneva the 15-truck convoy, organised jointly by the International Committee of the Red Cross and the Yemeni Red Crescent Society, and was carrying emergency supplies to 560 displaced families on Wednesday when it was attacked.
The ICRC statement revealed that 400 volunteers from the Yemeni Red Crescent society were in the convoy at the time of the attack. The statement indicated that the ICRC does not yet have any information on the reason of the attack and its team in Yemen tries to know more information on the incident.
