almotamar.net - The EU External Relations Commissioner Benita Ferrero-Waldner said the aid offered by the EU to Yemen is to cover the areas of priority in Yemen mainly the good governance that is an essential requirement for political and sustainable economic reforms.
She added that the volume of the EU development aid to Yemen increased in coincidence with the increase of its political partnership. The EU allocated an aid of 200 million euro for the period since 1990 while it will offer 60 million euro in the period of the next four years.
In her lecture Monday at the Sana'a University the EU Commissioner affirmed the EU support will be mainly focused on food security, health projects, vocational training, development of local communities, development of fisheries, management promotion, reform of general administration, electoral help, human rights and civil m society. She has also 3expressed the EU support for Yemen accession to the Gulf Cooperation council, saying she would confirm clearly the support for Yemen joining of he GCC in her attending in Riyadh Tuesday of a ministerial meeting between the EU and the GCC.
