The official source told almotamar.net that the number of Yemeni fishing boats exposed to Eritrean piracy last year amounted to 103 boats and the other 50 fishing boat have been confiscated in other piracy operations during the first four months of this year and all of them are still retained there.

Talking about some encouraging measures the source said the Eritrean sea authorities have allotted rewards to be paid to anyone who captures any Yemeni boat or participates in guiding to its whereabouts. Such measures he said are similar to those taken regarding some Saudi and Sudanese fishermen boats.

He also demanded that Yemeni patrols should be active along the Yemeni sea coast of the Yemeni territorial waters to secure protection to Yemeni fishermen and their properties.
