Almotamar.net - The General Committee (GC) of the General People's Congress (GPC) held Thursday its regular meeting presided over by president Ali Abdullah Saleh, the leader of the GPC and discussed a number of reports raised by leader of the party, its secretary general and the woman sector in addition to the issue of Saada events.
An official source told almotamar.net the GC listened to a report submitted by leadership of the GPC on the president of the republic visit to the United States of America. The meeting also listened to a report from the Secretary General and the assistants secretaries general on meetings of the GPC's permanent committees in the capital secretariat and a number of governorates.
With regard to the terrorist acts perpetrated by al-Houthi followers in the governorate of Saada the GC evaluated the stand of Sheikh Abdullah Bin Hussein al-Ahmar, Speaker of the parliament in his letter to sheikhs, figures and sons of Saada calling them to purge their areas from the terrorist elements affiliate of al-Houthi groups.
The GC also appreciated the stand of the population of Saada in supporting and backing up their brothers in the armed forces and security in confronting with the terrorist acts implemented by the Houthis.
The GC stressed the role of the Yemeni woman in enriching the political life and after listening to the report presented by the woman sector recommended that the agenda of dialogue with the political parties should include candidacy of the woman to elections. The GC said it "does not find any objection in supporting the woman even if that matter requires conducting a legal amendment securing access of the woman to the parliament."
The GC committee approved the appointment of Ahmed Ubaid Bin Daghr as head of the mass organisations office, Yasser al-Awadhi as head of the GPC technical office, Abdullah al-Hadhrami as editor in chief of al-Mithaq newspaper and Abdulmalik al-Fahidi as editor in chief of Almotamar.net.
