Almotamar.net - Assistant Secretary-General of the General People's Congress (GPC) Sultan Al-Barakani emphasized on his party's newspapers to keep pace with the changes that Yemen is witnessing and to interact with the new orientations of the organisation work, affirming the necessity of strengthening the relationship with the citizens and exposing the corrupt and stressed " The sky is the ceiling of freedom and we are with you."
The Assistant Secretary-General for the sector of Intellect, Information, Culture and Guidance addressed in a meeting on Friday evening the editorial boards of Al-Mithaq, 22 May and Almotamar.net newspapers by saying " Since the Secretary-General of the GPC Abdulqader Bajammal's devotion, the GPC is experiencing new stage and mechanism for the organisational and political work and an effective dynamism whether in meetings of permanent committees in the governorates or with regard of activating branches of the GPC in the districts and governorates within important steps the dictating that its press must be keeping pace with those developments."
Al-Barakani made it clear that this energetic movement aims at enhancing the organisational and political work based on correct bases serving the future directions. He said "You have to free yourselves from self censorship and surmount cautions and apprehensions that you are chaining your performance with. There is nothing prohibited and the GPC or the government mistakes are not sanctified as long as they are supported by the fact and serve id the issues of the citizens."
He said the information is a sublime message and must be employed for disclosing corruption and failures objectively and with credibility. In such an attitude "we will be with you in facing the corrupt and those manipulating the people are rights and issues."
Al-Barakani added that those directives are always emphasized by the president Ali Abdullah Saleh, the leader of the GPC so that the GPC newspapers would not become lagging behind the march of changes Yemen is experiencing.
He said "we want our newspapers to be widespread among the people and create the public opinion by providing the accurate and correct piece of information but without exaggeration in a manner to be a basis for any decision whether by leadership of the GPC or government institutions. The message does not stop at members of the GPC but should address others with an excellent language avoiding offence and libel. You have to speak to the people, adopt their issues and express their problems and to reflect that on front pages of the party's newspapers in the capital or in the governorates.
Mr. al-Barakani affirmed that the GPC information sector seeks to prepare programmes and qualification courses to upgrade and develop skills and capabilities of information staff, pointing out to important measures the information sector has begun to enhance the journalistic work that is compatible with what is planned for all newspapers and electronic websites in accordance with a mechanism keeping pace with developments and variables and translate future trends.
The meeting chaired by sheikh al-Barakani witnessed discussions by the newspapers and electronic websites staff and came out with unified vision and clear broad lines for the upcoming stage within directives of the GPC for the implementation of the president's electoral platform according to which he won the Yemeni people's trust in the elections of last September.
