During his opening of the ordinary session of the GPC permanent committee in the governorate of Lahj Tuesday Bajammal called for adherence in the way enabling them to perform distinguished roles in the ranks of the organisation, stressing the necessity that the GPC leadership should deal with responsibility with the executive power with regard to issues of the living and service issues and woes.

The secretary general touched on the political situation and said "we are heading for a radical change in the political life in Yemen and giving opportunities to people within a civil and legal society and a society equal in rights and duties."

Hew pointed out the sound policy of the GPC through the moderateness approach that reality proved its effectiveness. He said no one can make bidding against the president and the pursuit of moderateness that represents a school he learnt from life and coined it in conscience and work.

He added that the responsibility of the GPC leaders is to explain to the people the GPC ideology in details and in action and affirmed that the security and stability prevalent in Yemen is positively reflected on the political system and on security and stability in the region.

The GPC secretary general mentioned that the GPC vision pertaining the constitutional amendments and strengthening the role of the parliament and shoura council with bi-cameral system as well as enhancing role of the local authority to be effective councils with regard to expanding their powers to enable them meet their pledges to the masses. He said the dialogue of the GPC with the parties represented in the parliament springs from the party's belief in the political pluralism, recalling the impediments fabricated by the Joint Meeting parties regarding the elector tables and elector registers, motioning that that matters was decided by making those tasks part of the powers of the Supreme Commission for election.

The secretary general then listened to remarks of the members of the local permanent committee related to the necessity of consolidating the organisation aspect and aspects of shortcomings that associated the past period besides the necessity of interaction of the members of the GPC in the executive power and the local authority with the concerns and remarks of the permanent committee members regarding overcoming development and service difficulties the citizens want, those who granted their trust to the GPC in the presidential and local elections of 2006.

Bajammal affirmed giving great importance to solve requirements of organisation work, giving assistance to active members for implementing their organisation and executive tasks.

The ordinary session of the local permanent committee in the governorate of Lahj had considered the organisation report presented by leadership of the branch and reviewed the proposed amendments of the local authority law and the most important elements of the president's election platform.

Head of the executive body in the governorate Abdulwahab al-Durra and Muhsin al-Naqib, member of the general committee, the head of the GPC branch of the governorate delivered two speeches in which they touched on the importance of holding such sessions that are considered a qualitative transfer towards strengthening the organisation action to the better. The members of the committee also condemned what the elements of sedition led by al-Houthi have committed in some districts of Saada and damaging the country's interests and called for the work of meeting demands of the citizens by implementing articles of the president's election programme and that of the GPC.

The session was attended by Sultan al-Barakani, the assistant secretary general, Ahmed al-Zuhairi, member of the general committee, the chairman of the organisation body, Najib al-Ajmi, deputy chairman of the organisation monitoring, Mohammed al-Musbahi, Abdulqawi al-Shamniri, deputy head of the information office at the general secretariat, and Ubaid Bin Dhabee, member of the general secretariat, the director of the secretary general office.
