Almotamar.net - A source from the General People's Congress (GPC) parliamentary bloc commented Saturday on statements by leaders of the Joint Meeting Parties (JMP) who said the GPC seeks to retain its majority at the parliament, confirming that the it is the re right of any party to go ahead towards gaining as many as it can of seats in the parliament as long as it abided by the rules of the pluralist democratic game defined in the constitution and valid laws.

In a statement to almotamar.net the GPC source added the democratic pluralist option Yemen has pursued has given the political forces the opportunity to electoral contest to attain the influence on the general decision whether in the context for the presidential seat of the parliament seats or seats of the local councils.

The source added it is the nature of the democratic system to re-single out the forces and classify them into majority enabling it to rule and minority possessing the right to opposition and the use of democratic ways for mustering its potentials like winning the second electoral round.

The source called on the opposition to reconcile itself with the masses to polarize them in the upcoming parliamentary elections in 21009. It has to do so instead of playing on betting on fabricating imaginary battles that experiments proved their failure in gaining popular accomplishments as it was proved in the drop of the opposition popularity in the elections held in Yemen since the first elections in 1993.

A leading member in the opposition had earlier said in a meeting of leaders of the JMP branches in the governorates the GPC has prepared plans so that the JMP will not be able to get more than 2% of the parliament seats in the upcoming elections.
