Almotamar.net - Secretary-General of the General People's Congress (GPC) Abdulqader Bajammal considered Sunday the National charter as the first unitary banner that talked in intellectual, political and ideological depth on the unity of the homeland and it was the product of men who were faithful to unity and made it an essential issue of the people of Yemen.

Bajammal said the concept of unity was not clear and unified among the poetical elite as the political and intellectual springs of those elites were the ones forming the concept of unity, unlike the awareness of the people.

He added that the war of 1994 happened because of the control of the divisional mentality and intellect over those who were sticking to power and partnership in controlling power was the condition of the unity in their concept, or that the authority is more important than the unity in case of comparison between continuation in power or the unity.

The secretary general in his speech at the opening of the Yemeni Unity Symposium in its 17th year, organised today by al-Mithaq Institute he refused what some has suggested that the Yemeni unity came to destabilize the region's security and to open the door to conflicts. He confirmed the Yemeni unity is an element of construction in the Arabian Peninsula and will work for founding partnership, cooperation and integration rather than political difference. He said democracy was the sole option for safeguarding and protecting the unity and to avoid chaos which some call it now as the constructive chaos.
