Almotamar Net - The Regional Conference on Combating Female Circumcision, concluded in Sanaa Thursday afternoon, demanded issuance of a jurist legal opinion by Muslim scholars at the Organisation of Islamic conference and the world Federation of Muslim scholars, in addition to punitive laws,   prohibiting the habit of circumcising females and punishing those who practice it. Almotamar.net - The Regional Conference on Combating Female Circumcision, concluded in Sana'a Thursday afternoon, demanded issuance of a jurist legal opinion by Muslim scholars at the Organisation of Islamic conference and the world Federation of Muslim scholars, in addition to punitive laws, prohibiting the habit of circumcising females and punishing those who practice it.

The 150-member participants from Yemen, Sudan, Egypt, Oman and Djibouti demanded in their recommendations titled "Sana'a Declaration" asked Arab and Islamic heads of government to activate decisions and recommendations of Sana'a Declaration the conference has come out with in implementation of heavenly laws, international agreements and conventions that approved it.

The conference also approved the establishment of regional and Arab anti-female circumcision network aimed at coordination and networking under the umbrella of the Arab Women General Federation and the establishment of a database and information containing all documents related to the phenomenon of female circumcision.

The conference also recommended adoption of social awareness campaign to oppose female circumcising including individuals of the society, females and males in addition to social institutions and civil society organisations in cooperation with partners of development.
