Almotamar.net - The General People's Congress (GPC) ruling party Saturday accused partisan sides to be behind messages sent on emails and mobile telephones bearing offense against the person of the president of the republic.
Head of the information office of the GPC Tariq al-Shami those behind such messages are either belonging to political parties aiming at offense and tension of atmospheres or persons lacking sense of responsibility.
He added "We have to differentiate between criticism and offense and should not take advantage of freedom for negative purposes that do not create awareness among the society but rather offending in the first place."
He said in principle criticism is allowed for all and constructive criticism serves the issues of the society especially that aimed at rectifying any flaws and offering alternatives and "we have to differentiate between criticism and personal targeting. The GPC official added that his party rejects any targeting and offending against persons directly or indirectly. Technological devices should not be used for offending and defamation because that puts the persons and sides committing it under legal accountability and confirmed no one accepts offense whether they were public personalities or partisan or government institutions.
Al-Shami added n a statement to Saba news agency that personifying criticism and offending personalities have recently become a phenomenon and it was not part of the culture of the Yemeni society. He also called for refusing this trend and not to allow them going too far in using them
