Almotamar.net - The Yemeni interior ministry inaugurated Wednesday the first system for coast observation (Vts-Radars) to cover 500 km of the Yemeni coast. The project covers the coast extending from Al-Makha in Taiz governorate to Shaqra in the governorate of Abyan. It includes 29 new observation centres and points organising traffic movement of ships along side the coastal stripe on the Red Sea, Gulf of Aden and the Arabian Sea.
In the inauguration ceremony the deputy premier, minister of interior Dr Rashad Al-Alimi confirmed that work in the Coastal Observation System will serve security and stability in Yemen and the region in general and that will be reflected on the international security and fighting of terror. It forms an important foundation for securing sea borders and Yemeni shores against all whatever can come from outside whether terror or smuggling or illegal migration or drugs or weapons.
