Almotamar Net - Democratic School, Yemeni civil society organisation, said Wednesday the Youth and Sport Minister has shown his and the government response to childrens demands pertaining the increase in appropriations of childhood programs in the state budget, indicating that the cabinet approved the executive plan for childhood programs. The school quoted the minister, who received children's memorandum instead of the prime minister, as confirming that the ministry of Youth and Sport seeks through children and youth strategy to solve the issues children are demanding and that during the summer vacation the ministry will work for opening one thousand centre for youth and children qualification and training in governorates all over Yemen.

The minister affirmed that the government is taking actual steps to carry out what was mentioned in the president of the republic's election platform regarding to children and youth.

A press release issued by the democratic school, a copy of which almotamar.net received, the youth minister affirmed his support for all steps taken by children parliament and activists of child rights so that all Yemeni children get their rights. He affirmed the government readiness to meet demands of children for the improvement of their conditions through engaging them in planning and drawing up policies on children programmes the government is implementing taking into consideration that children compose half of the society and the future of Yemen and taking care of children at present will make tomorrow better.

Children parliament members and activists of children rights organised Tuesday a demonstration in collaboration with democracy school and the UNICEF. The demonstration started from Tahrir square in Sana'a and gathered in front of the cabinet headquarters. In their demonstration the children raised slogans demanding their rights to free education, health and immunization against lethal diseases and the compulsory and free education for each child. They said interests of loans chain future of children especially if they were spent for improper purposes.

The gathering was attended by the minister of education Dr Abdulsallam al-Jawfi and Dr Adnan al-Jifri minister of state for Shoura Council and parliament. Both ministers expressed their support for the children's demands.
