Almotamar.net - The state of Qatar announced Monday it has offered an assistance worth of $500 million to support the economic and social development movement in Yemen.

The announcement came during the signing of an understanding memorandum between Qatar and Yemen. The memorandum signed for the Qatari side by the finance minister Yusuf Kamal and for the Yemeni side by the deputy premier for economic affairs, minister of planning and international cooperation Abdulkarim al-Arhabi.

The Qatari minister said in a press statement that the government of Qatar and the Yemeni government signed an understanding memorandum for founding Qatar establishment for Development in Yemen aimed at supporting the economic and social development in Yemen.

The Kuwaiti news agency quoted the Qatari minister as saying that $500 million was allocated for that purpose, pointing out that it was agreed to implement Al-Saleh Medical City project at a cost of $200 million.
