Almotamar.net - Director of Socotra Island security Saadd al-Jaaifi said Friday the wave of strong winds whose speed reaches around 60 knots per hour hitting the island's coasts and international waters close to it prevented coast guard of Yemen from salvaging the wreckage of the Panamanian ship that sank the day before yesterday. The ship was coming from one of the Asian ports en route to Europe.
The security official told almotamar.net the strong winds disrupted and completely stopped commercial navigation movement of the island, along the island's coast extending between the Indian Ocean and the Arabian Sea especially the northern part of the island. He pointed out that high waves reach about seven metres and that prevents entrance of small ships to Socotra Archipelago or to sail in the nearby waters.
