almotamar.net - Security sources revealed Monday that the authorities of migration and passports the beginning of this week have embarked on large-scale security campaign in five Yemeni governorates to seize illegal residents in preparation for deporting them to the countries where they cam from.

A source at the authority of migration and passports told almotamar.net those campaigns targeted the governorates of Sana'a, Aden, Taiz, Hudeifda and Hadramoput and resulted in catching around 1200 Somali and Ethiopian illegal migrants, clarifying that the security search teams will maintain their campaign until next Thursday.

Yemen has in the beginning of 2007 witnessed the largest influx of Somali migrants into Yemen in coincidence with the Ethiopian troops entering Somalia and was described the first of its kind in 16 years as the number of Somali migrants who arrived in Yemen in the first three months of the year amounted to about 8 thousand refugees in addition to seizing 2100 infiltrators in the same period.
