Almotamar Net - French president Sarkozy and officials have shown readiness to help Yemen in the use of nuclear technology for peaceful purposes for generating electric power in addition to consolidate security cooperation in the field of coast guard. President Ali Abdullah Saleh welcomed French companies for investment in Yemen in the field of power generation by nuclear energy or gas according to BOT system in order to provide electric power and water desalination and other industrial areas in the framework of partnership existing between Yemen and France.

The president visited Tuesday the French power station for generating electricity by the nuclear energy and got acquainted with the station's technical and technological equipment. President Saleh listened to its officials explanations with regard to services and activities of the station in generating electric power by nuclear technology.

Meanwhile the French interior minister said France was ready to enhance security cooperation and coordination in addition to exchange of information and combating terror. The French interior minister said she has the desire to sign an agreement with Yemen for security cooperation and fighting terror and the organised crime and drugs.

During her meeting with president Saleh the French minister praised Yemen's efforts in fighting terror and the organised crime. She affirmed France's readiness to cooperation and providing more opportunities for the Yemeni cadres to train in the French security institutes and to send trainers to Yemen in addition to supplying Yemeni security apparatuses with technical equipment and supplies necessary for strengthening their capabilities of fighting terror and organised crime in the region as well as contribution to implement a project of issuing the electronic identity card. President Saleh praised the level o f the existing relations between Yemen and France particularly in training and qualification and exchange of information and also the efforts the French trainers are doing in training the Yemeni security cadres.

On his part the French defence minister affirmed readiness of his country for developing security cooperation and strengthening coordination for fighting terror and organised crime and in the field of coast guard as well as receiving Yemeni military cadres for training and qualification at the French academies.

That came during the French defence minister reception of President Ali Abdullah Saleh on Tuesday. The president discussed with the French minister bilateral relations and areas of cooperation in military and coast guard in addition to fighting terror. The president also reviewed the situations in the region, among them in Iraq, Afghanistan, Somalia and the Horn of Africa.

The president expressed his satisfaction over steady growth of the Yemeni French relations, saying they are developing friendly relations. He also confirmed Yemen's keenness to enhance and develop the existing partnership between the two countries in various fields.
