Almotamar.net - France has condemned the terrorist event that targeted a tourist convoy in Mareb governorate on Monday and caused the death of seven Spaniard tourists and two Yemenis in addition to wounding other eight persons.
A statement by the French foreign ministry that terrorist threats in London, Glasgow airport and Mareb operation dictate on frame to work closely with the European countries in the war on terror. The statement added that Paris strongly condemn Mareb attack and supports the Yemeni government in its efforts for fighting terror.
Meanwhile the French ambassador to Yemen expressed his sorrow for Yemen and the Spanish families as a result of the terrorist incident in Mareb.
The French ambassador said it was the first time a terrorist operation was carried out against civilians and it was dangerous and unprecedented because it happened for the first time against civilians who have no relation to political, or diplomatic or military or economic side.
In a press conference held by the French embassy Tuesday evening the ambassador stressed Yemen is a safe country and his people share with him that, pointing out that France would maintain its support to Yemen in confronting terror.
On his part the rear admiral, commander of joint forces in international waters in the Arabian Sea and the Indian Ocean condemned the attack on the Spanish tourists and their companions in Mareb. He said Yemen did not witness such an event before, attacking clearly European civilian tourists. He confirmed the French government still encourages French tourists to go to Yemen and the French government confidence is great in capability of security apparatuses in Yemen for confronting these accts.
