Almotamar.net - Representative of the UN Fund for Population in Sana'a said Tuesday the correct means to avoid population increase in Yemen depends on the Yemeni woman in the first place, according to ideas of local and international experts.
The international representative added on the occasion of marking the World Population Day on July 11 held today in Aden talked about the UN Population Fund's launching in Sana'a two weeks before a report on the state of world population in 2007 and clarified that the population in Yemen amounts to 23.3million people and if the increase continues in the present manner the number will in four decades will amount to 60 million people. The question is where those live, how would they live, who will provide for them food and job opportunities and who would provide them with prosperous life?
He added that according to experts in Yemen and outside Yemen the essential means to avoid this aggravating situation depends on the Yemeni woman in the first place. He said that according to experts is that among other things is the empowerment of the woman in Yemen to take a studied decision regarding her reproduction life and to provide her with access to quality reproduction health services including modern means of family planning supported with birth giving emergency services.
In a statement, almotamar.net received a copy of it; the UN official said it was time for all Yemeni men, whether they were fathers or brother or husbands or social or religious leaders or government officials to become partners in the maternity health including the safe maternity with all possible methods.
