Al-Karshamy, born in 1932, died at dawn today in Sana'a and was buried at the cemetery of Bait Bous.

The funeral was attended by chairman of the Shoura council, Head of the Higher Judiciary Council, Qadi Ismael al-Haji, advisor to the president, a number of ministers, members of the Shoura council and parliament, figures of the Yemeni revolution and large number of citizens.

Al-Karshami was born and lived in Beit Bous village, Bani Matar district. He traveled to Beirut where he finished his secondary school in 1948. In 1958 he graduated a civil engineer from Ein Shams University in Cairo and was appointed a supervising engineer of the road linking the cities of Makha and Taiz as well as supervising the streets of Sana'a city.

After the Yemeni revolution in 1962 he was appointed minister of public works. In 1963 he was appointed minister of works and communications and in 1968 he was appointed minister of communications and prime minister in 1969. After that he assumed many other senior posts in the state and in the year 2000 he was appointed advisor to the president for roads affairs.
