Almotamar.net - Director of National Anti-AIDS Programme at the Yemeni Ministry of Health and Population Dr Fawzia Mohammed Gharamah on Monday disclosed registration of 2075 case of AIDS infection in Yemen since 1978 until December 2006.

In a press conference held today Dr Gharamah added the Ministry estimates unregistered AIDS cases in Yemen at about 20 to 21 thousand cases, pointing out that Yemen is classified among the countries of low dissemination of AIDS disease. She has made it clear that Aids virus spread monitoring system in Yemen, description of infection cases and discrimination against AIDS patients were among the major impediments facing Yemen's Health Ministry for determining the real number of AIDS patients in Yemen.

On his part the Japanese deputy ambassador to Yemen announced about the Japanese government offering an amount of $250 thousand as a financial grant to contribute to holding a the 5th workshop on AIDS to start in Sana'a Tuesday under a motto "Arab women make the future".
