almotamar.net - A security source at the interior ministry of Yemen affirmed Friday that the ongoing campaign on weapons in the capital Sana'a and provincial capitals had led to curb the acts of land illegal seizure by 80% since the beginning of the interior ministry application of its decision of preventing entrance of weapons to Sana'a and provincial capitals on 23 of last August.

General Mohammed Bin Abdullah al-Qawsi, interior undersecretary for security sector said security forces were able to size 1954 arms pieces on Wednesday, 575 of them in the capital and the rest in the provincial capitals in addition to seizing of 5118 pieces of different weapons in the security zone and prevented the m from being brought into provincial capitals. General al-Qawsi indicated that some of those weapons would be confiscated as their owners were caught while they were trying to carry them secretly into the cities.

On the other hand the general called those included in the regulation n organising protection of senior officials, MPs, members of the Shoura Council and members of local councils to speed up registration of their bodyguards weapons as stated in the regulation.
