almotamar.net, agencies - The Jordanian Publications Department has decided to monitor news websites and to deal with them in the same manner with local newspapers.

Assistant director general of Publications Department Nabil al-Mumani said "As a publications department under the law I have the right to follow up content of those websites."

He added that the department of legislation at the premiership gave an interpretation of the law including the electronic sites and therefore what applies to newspapers is applicable to all other means of publication.
