In August, six Al-Qaeda suspects including an Iraqi, Syrians and Yemenis, were sentenced by a Yemeni court to up to four years in prison after being convicted of plotting attacks on Western targets in the Gulf.

In June, an appeals court quashed the convictions of 11 Al-Qaeda suspects on charges of plotting attacks in Yemen and abroad citing lack of evidence
