Security authorities had earlier caught the Jordanian defendant Gaddallah and two Yemeni persons while in their possession about two kg of Himyari gold in a shape of jewellery in addition of a collection of stone and bronze antiquities.

Antiquities prosecution has confronted the defendant on 18 May 2005 with the golden pieces and a collection of instruments and equipment seized in his house on 13 February 2004.

East Sana'a court had condemned the same Jordanian defendant of antiquities trafficking and possessing Yemeni antiques but did not sentence him to imprisonment and decided to impose a fine of 20 thousand riyals on him and confiscation of the things seized in his possession and acquitted his two accomplices.

Antiquities prosecution had later appealed the verdict and demanded application of antiquities punishment law and to implement the minimum of the texts of the law which stipulates punishment of antiquities traffickers of imprisonment for a period no less than one year and punishment antiquities smugglers with a punishment no less than 5 years of imprisonment.
