almotamar.net - Executive works for the infrastructure components of the Firdous Aden City project are inaugurated in Aden Wednesday. It is the biggest tourist and housing investment project to be built in Aden by Gulf, Egyptian and Yemeni investors.

The project is to be implemented by consortium of Egyptian, Saudi, Emirates and world companies with a total cost amounting to $10 billion.

Chairman of the board of directors of the Arab Centre for Integrated Studies which prepared designs of the city Dr Rakhaa Hashim said Yemeni companies have lately started work in preparatory works for implementing the project.

He said the project is to be built on an area of 16 million square metres over three stages extending to 8 years. It will consist of tourist villages, a trading centre which includes more than 2 thousand offices, university, international hospital, a housing city of 20 thousand flats, 20 thousand villas and palaces, entertainment city covering an area of 70 fedans, health club, popular markets, resorts, hotels, a social club for the elderly and a Palace for International Conferences containing 12 halls.

The project also includes a wharf for tourist yachts for offering services in addition to ports for yachts and ships and a lighthouse.

Dr Hashim said what distinguishes the city is that it is situated on an area of 8 km long and 2km deep and protected against sea waves and wind currents and will have a shore the size of Nimah Gulf of Sharm el-Sheikh, with similar tourist characteristics.
