Almotamar.net - Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas 'Abu Mazin', Chairman of the Palestinian National Authority and head of Fatah movement has welcomed the initiative announced by President Ali Abdullah Saleh on the Palestinian dialogue for healing the rift in the Palestinian national rank and ending the differences between Fatah and Hamas movements.

The spokesman for the Palestinian presidency said in a statement to the media on Sunday this imitative reflects keenness of president Ali Abdullah Saleh on unity of the Palestinian stand and ending the state of separation and division that does not serve the Palestinian national interest and led to the dangerous situation of blockade and aggression against the people in Gaza Strip, the West Bank and Al-Quds.

The spokesman added that president Abu Mazin has affirmed his full response to the initiative which he described as sincere and brotherly from president Saleh who is keen on unity of the people of Palestine and their cause and future.

President Saleh has handed the Palestinian president Abu Mazin during his recent visit to Yemen a Yemeni initiative aimed at coming out of the current Palestinian situation and opening the door of dialogue between the movements of Fatah and Hamas.

The Yemeni initiative contains seven points including the restoration of the situation in Gaza to its position before 13 June 2007, holding early elections, resuming dialogue on basis of Cairo agreement in 2005 and Mecca agreement of 2007 on the basis that the Palestinian people are inseparable and the Palestinian authority is composed of the elected presidency authority, the elected parliament and the executive authority represented by a national unity government and commitment to the Palestinian legitimacy with all of its components.

The initiative also stipulates the respect of the Palestinian constitution and the law and abiding by it by all, restructuring of the security apparatuses on national bases and affiliated to the higher authority and the national unity government and not to have any relation with any faction and all the Palestinian institutions, in all of their components without any factional distinction and to be under the power of the higher authority and the national unity government.
