Almotamar.net - Yemen parliament on Saturday endorsed a loan agreement signed between Yemen and Abu Dhabi Fund for Development for financing Hassan Dam project in Abyan governorate at a cost amounting $75 million. The total cost of the project amounts to more than $95 million to which the Yemeni government contributes with more than $20 million.

According to the Development and Agriculture Committee the project is meant for controlling water floods, protecting agricultural lands and raising irrigation efficiency in addition to increasing the feeding of underground waters and encouraging social cooperation for water distribution.

The project includes building a dam in Hassan Valley, diverting barriers. Secondary barriers, main canals and installations controlling water distribution.
