almotamar.net - Beirut, Almotamar.net- Yemen's ambassador to Lebanon Faisal Amin Abu Ras and the Executive Secretary of the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) ambassador Badr Omar al-Dafaa signed in Beirut Monday the agreement regarding arrangements of the 25th session of ESCWA scheduled in Sana'a on 26-29 of next May.

Ambassador al-Dafaa said the choice of Sana'a for holding the session is considered a response to invitation of the Yemeni government and does not contradict conditions of the United Nations.

On his part the Yemeni ambassador to Beirut Faisal Abu Ras said the first meeting of ESCWA was held in Yemen more than 20 years ago when the late Mohammed Saeed al-Attar (Yemen) was Executive Secretary of the commission and Yemen was looking forward to incorporation into the region's economies and the ESCWA is the best beginning in this track.

Abu Ras added that solution of problems and issues lies in focusing on the economic sides and cooperation among the various sides in the region.

In response to a question on the topics to be submitted by the session under the difficult economic situation at the world level in general and the Arab level in particular he said the session would open horizons of cooperation between Yemen and the region in general, particularly the Gulf countries as a preliminary step and Yemen has asked the ESCWWA to supply it with studies and expertise in areas that are considered as priorities.
