Almotamar.net - A security source revealed to almotmar.net Tuesday that the Ministry of Interior was studying setting up a security plan for strengthening protection of archaeological sites in al governorates of Yemen, indicating that the plan will be carried out in cooperation with the local authorities in the governorates.

The source also clarified that the security plan includes building fences around the newly discovered historical sites and the sites where there are excavation so that to prevent digging acts in addition to intensification of monitoring border crossings nearby the historical sites.

The source added that the Ministry of Interior sent memos to its stations in the areas where there are historical sites to raise the degree of guarding those sites and to take intensive security measures in the way guaranteeing prevention of theft acts in the sites by smuggling networks as that exposes the archaeological wealth to destruction.
