Almotamar.net - The girl Rania Arasi has on Thursday won the post of speaker of the new parliament of children. She has got 8 voices while the posts of deputy speakers were won by the girl Shahrazad al-Sallal and the boy Mohammed al-Amoudi with 6 voices for each of them. Nineteen girls have been elected to the 46-member children parliament and they were elected in the children parliamentary elections held in the mid of this month.

In the session opened by deputy speaker of the Yemeni parliament Sheikh Himyar Bin Abdullah al-Ahmar the process of voting and vote counting was supervised by two committees from members of the previous children parliament.

Before the process of the parliament presidency body there were speeches delivered by the Minister of Education, the secretary general of the supreme commission for election, director of the Swedish organisation in Yemen, the secretary general of the higher council for motherhood and childhood and the director of the Democratic School, the sponsor of the children parliament.

All the speeches affirmed the importance of early time democratic practice in building a democratic generation, praising contributions of previous children parliaments to arouse issues of childhood. The Minister of Education has called in his address on the children parliamentarians to make the 21 points, included in the election platform of the President of the Republic, as one of the pillars of their work for the next stage because they are connected with all subjects of childhood in Yemen.
