Almotamar.net - Taiz University organizes on Saturday a speech and artistic festival on the Day of Democracy in Yemen on 27 April and the event will be patronized by the governor of Taiz.

According to a press statement the festival has a special importance as it is conceding with the new democratic practice that Yemen is to be experiences, i.e. the election provinces governors by the elected members of governorates local councils. It is the first experiment of its kind in Yemen�s modern history. It is scheduled that political parties and organizations as well as civil society organizations in the governorate are to participate in the event.

Meanwhile, organizations of the civil society in Thamar governorate will on Sunday organize a mass festival marking the Democracy Day and on the occasion of announcing election of provinces governors as a first step to be taken by Yemen in the Arab world.

Secretary General of Thamar local council Shaef al-Ansi said the festival has an especially deep indication to the importance of this day which represents a qualitative transfer in the Yemeni political life and an embodiment of the principle of democracy and pluralism.
