Almotamar.net - Today Sunday 27 April coincides the Democracy Day in 1993, the first competitive parliamentary elections on partisan basis in the history of Yemen, and with that the democratic experiment is becoming established and its birth was associated by the reunification of the homeland.

This Democracy Day also coincides with President Ali Abdullah Saleh issuing today a republican decree calling for the elector body to the election of the mayor of the capital and governors of the provinces during next May. These elections are considered the first of their kind and added to the Yemeni democracy record.

All Yemeni governorates have today witnessed mass demonstrations and festivals to observe this day that witnessed presidential, parliamentary and local elections and shortly to witness election of the governors.
On its part the Ministry of Local Administration approved the announcement via the media of names of the committees supervising the elections in the governorates. The announcement invites the committees to attend at the Ministry on Monday to get their cards and the Ministry decided to begin training on Tuesday.
