Almotamar.net - The Higher Museums and Manuscripts Authority handed over the National Museum 300 antiquities which security authorities seized from gangs before they managed to smuggle them, said Abdul-Aziz Al-Jendari, curator of the National Museum.
In a statement to the motamar.net, Al-Jendari said, "those antiquities include bronze pieces, sculptures, earthen potters, in addition to other antiquities that date back to the Islamic and pre-Islamic period."
According to Al-Jendari, organized gangs stole such antiquities from historical sites in Marib, Jawf, and Shabwa governorates, but security forces could seize them as they tried to smuggle them through several border crossings.
Al-Jendari made it clear that Yemeni border guards played a big role in restoring the antiquities. In their last operation, they could seize seven antiquities in the western check point of Faradat Nahm.
